Pregnancy Consent Form – PDF Download
The FDA has not approved any psychotropic medication as completely safe for use during pregnancy. The decision whether or not to continue psychotropic medications during pregnancy must be made after a full and open discussion of the risks and benefits of that decision.
It is important that you inform your doctor if you are now, or intend to become pregnant. It is also important to discuss the form of birth control you are using if you are, or plan to become sexually active. Some psychotropic medications can affect the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
It may take weeks, or even months to safely taper off some forms of psychotropic medications. Adequate advance planning will allow for the greatest physical and mental well being of mother and baby.
